Don Ahn was a Korean-born artist who moved to the United States in the early 1960s, a time when only a handful of Korean artists were in the U.S.
From a young age, Ahn studied traditional Korean calligraphy and continued his art education at the prestigious Seoul National University. To broaden his horizons, he decided to move to the United States and continue his studies.
Once here, Ahn combined his Korean heritage with America’s influence. This resulted in a unique hybrid of Asian and American art.
After his death in 2013, a project was initiated to archive and document the life and works of Don Ahn and to highlight his achievements as one of Korea’s outstanding artists.
